No wrenches to dodge in this league

Registration is open for Winter 2019 leagues. We have eight leagues listed. Note: It is highly unlikely we will have enough teams to run all eight leagues listed. All teams will be asked to indicate other leagues in which they can play, and there will likely be consolidation before leagues begin. Registration is being offered this way as a sort of informal survey to see where and when people want leagues to help us structure future offerings.

Format

  • Teams are comprised of six individuals on the floor - at least two must be female
  • The league will be segmented into Upper and Lower divisions if we have enough teams register for each
  • Matches last 40 minutes - the team winning the most games takes the match
  • MSSC supplies balls, referees, and team t-shirts
  • Six game regular season, followed by the playoffs
  • Download the Rulebook in the grey menu bar toward the top of the page for full details on the format and rules

League Capacity

Leagues typically have a capacity of nine teams and sometimes sell out in advance of any posted registration deadlines. Some leagues may be capped at seven depending on how much time we have available. Do not wait until the last minute to register if you want to play.

Scheduling

Since it is asked all the time: Scheduels are posted a few days after registration closes. If you signed up for Tuesday nights, your team plays on Tuesdays nights. The time is irrelevant.

Divisions: Upper vs. Lower

There is no guarantee we will be able to segment any given league into separate divisions, and all teams may end up in the same division. Most seasons do not feature segmented leagues. Teams self-select their division, subject to MSSC approval. Be honest about your skill level, as teams who are truly Lower division teams do not enjoy getting blown out by teams who lie, and it makes the league look bad for allowing that type of skill disparity to occur. There is nothing wrong with being an Upper division team. If you are at all questioning where your team belongs, please register for Upper. If you played in a prior season and we know you're good enough to play in Upper, we'll move you there if you register for Lower.

Individual Sign Up Information

  • The need for Individuals (or "free agents") varies from season to season. Some years we place a lot of them, some years we don't. You are not charged unless we place you on a team, so there's no harm in signing up
  • Men: We typically are not able to place many males who register as Individuals because most teams are not looking for additional males. You could end up on a "free agent" team though
  • Ladies: If you want to be placed on a team, it's best to sign up on your own and NOT request to be placed with a male, as there is a much smaller chance a team will pick you up if you want to play with a guy.
  • Please note that you will not be contacted unless we are able to get you on a team.

Do not register for multiple nights if you are not able to play on multiple nights. We count on all free agents being available for any and all nights for which they register. If you are able to play on multiple nights but only want to play one, register for the night you prefer and indicate in the comments section that you would be able to play other nights.

Dates and Locations

Fall leagues begin in late October or early November. Winter leagues normally begin at various times in January. 2019 Winter locations:

  • West leagues: Randall Elementary
  • East leagues: Sherman Middle School
